2 dead as truck “intentionally” rams into crowd in Stockholm

At least two persons have been confirmed dead as a truck drove into pedestrians in Stockholm, Sweden.

The incident occurred around 3pm on Friday (today).

The incident, which prompted many people to flee for their lives, has been labelled a terrorist attack.

Bodies were seen lying on the street after the attack, CNN reports.

“Many things point to this being a terror attack,” Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven told reporters in Sweden.

The attacker, who was reported by local media to have hijacked the truck used in perpetuating the crime, is on the run.

“Plenty of people have been injured and some have died in the attack that just hit Stockholm,” head of press for the security service, Nina Odermalm Schei, said.

“We are still trying to determine who the attacker was, if the attack was carried by one or more people, and the number of injured.”

Carl Bildt, the former prime minister of Sweden, wrote on Twitter: “Steal a lorry or a car and then drive it into a crowd. That seems to be the latest terrorist method. Berlin. London. Now Stockholm.”
