“Yusuf could have died” – Aisha Buhari condemns foreign medical trips
Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari has said she strongly opposes the idea of seeking medical care overseas.
Nigeria has “all it takes” to have world class hospitals, she says.
Aisha said: “I believe in making Nigeria a better place to be, I don’t believe in spending our resources abroad. We have all it takes to have a hospital like this, from manpower to personnel.”
But her son, Yusuf Buhari has only just returned from a medical sojourn abroad following his bike accident.
Aisha, speaking at the inauguration of Cedarcrest Hospital on Wednesday, said Yusuf received world class treatment before he was flown out.
She said but for the treatment Yusuf received at the Abuja hospital, he could have died.
“Even after he was flown abroad for further medical attention, they (hospitals and surgeons abroad) did not do anything for him.”
“They asked where the accident happened, where the surgery took place, I said Nigeria, they said excellent,” she added.
Aisha’s husband, President Buhari, still travels abroad to receive medical treatment.
