The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Thursday, November 9, 2023, blocked the entrance of one of Nigeria’s busiest airports, the Azikike International Airport, during a protest staged by members of the union.

The blockage, which has reportedly caused the postponement of some flights, was staged to prevent flights to Imo State, in the continued feud between the Imo State government and the Union.

On November 1, 2023, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Joe Ajaero, was whisked away and allegedly brutalized by men believed to be officers of the Nigerian police.
