What you need to know about the Neusroom 100 Project

Info Digital Africa (ID Africa) on Monday announced that it will be unveiling the Neusroom 100 Project, on Friday July 3, 2020.

The Neusroom 100 project is a list of 100 people, organisations, countries and things helping the world conquer the deadly COVID-19 which spread across the globe in the first half of this year.

The global outbreak of the pandemic, similar to what the world experienced during the 1918 influenza outbreak, brought fear and uncertainty to the world. While families, businesses, institutions and nations are facing very uncertain times, some individuals are showing what it means to hold political, scientific and economic power and they are demonstrating this through their interventions of support which is raising hope that the world will overcome this present period of turmoil.

To celebrate many of these unsung heroes scattered across the world, Neusroom decided to compile a list of 100 living and non living that have been a beacon of hope as the world fights the pandemic.

Here’s what to know about the Neusroom 100 project:

Why Neusroom 100 project was created:

ID Africa CEO, Femi Falodun said it was created as a celebration of hope and an acknowledgement of humanity’s collective will to survive.

Who is expected to be on the list:

Selecting 100 from a stream of millions of men and women, nations, organisations and things across the world taking bold actions against coronavirus must be a very difficult task.

Those we will be looking forward to finding on the list are healthcare workers and institutions at the frontline of the battle, the world leaders and philanthropist providing the leadership direction and resources to support the healthcare workers to effectively carry out their duties. Individuals and organisations whose businesses have been worse hit by the pandemic yet they are making sacrifices to help the world while they are also losing. And the essential things the world is depending on to fight the spread and also manage the virus.

Who may not make the list:

So many are doing well in the fight against COVID-19, but since the list can only take 100, it will not be so surprising if many names we expected to see on the list do not make it. It is expected that a lot of names must have been dropped during the selection process.

Where and when will the project be unveiled:

The project will be unveiled virtually on Neusroom Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages by 5pm on Friday.
