WATCH: “Nigeria is not easy for anybody” – Police officer says, as he allegedly extorts offender

A police officer has been caught on camera saying that “Nigeria is not easy for anybody” as he allegedly extorted his victim in the Ikeja area of Lagos on Monday (today).
The victim claimed that he had mistakenly taken a wrong way before the unidentified officer stopped him. He said the officer, after several threats, extorted him of N10,000 sum.
Narrating his ordeal at the hand of the officer, he said: “I had to get down to iba from around Maryland. I had a deadline to meet so I turned to Google map to give me the shortest possible route to get down to iba. I was going to pass through Awolowo way and to get link Abeokuta expressway.
“On getting to the front of the police station at number 7, Awolowo way Ikeja Google map told me to proceed a few more meters before turning right adegbola street to link the express. I obeyed Google map for a while then I passed a one way sign and I wanted to reverse ASAP.
“He kept talking about how I’ll be taken to court, jailed or I’ll pay a fine of 250k and my car impounded. It was obviously a mistake and I don’t even earn up to 250k monthly so paying fine wasn’t an option. He took me straight to the station as I started pleading for mercy.
“I had less than 20k on me but he insisted I start calling friends and relatives to help make up the money to 50k or he’ll make the issue official. I kept pleading telling him I can give him 5k. We settled for 10k. He told me to go to UBA just close by and use the ATM.
“I proceeded the use the ATM but I won’t let someone milk me of my hard earned money over a mistake anyone could make and go Scot free. Never!!! Not after delaying me for over 2hrs I spent begging him and joining the long ATM queue. This is wickedness.
“I gave him the 10k but I was able to grab the video with an app that allows me to record videos while the phone is on lockscreen. This is the video of NPF officer extorting me over a mistake I made in 5secs. His face and voice is clear in the video.”
He added that the officer admitted that he’d settle other officers from the money.
