WATCH: Locals mob man in Ondo for allegedly picking female underwear for ritual

A man was nearly lynched by irate locals in the Danjuma area of Akure, Ondo State on Wednesday after he was allegedly found in possession of female underwear.

Eyewitnesses say used pants, bras and a blood-soaked sanitary pad were some of the items found in the bag in the suspect’s possession.

The locals suspected the man identified as Kayode Michael was picking the piece of clothing for ritual purposes.

Kayode was mobbed by his captors before he was handed to law enforcement. He couldn’t clearly explain why he was picking the items.

NSCDC spokesperson Oladapo Samuel said Kayode was still in custody and investigation was ongoing into the incident.

“The suspect was rescued from an angry mob by two patriotic citizens. He was confirmed to engage in begging for alms and picking waste from dustbins around the metropolis by his relatives and neighbours,” the spokesman said.

“At the scene of rescue, no witness was willing to speak with the NSCDC officers on the circumstances of his apprehension so as to determine if he was actually caught with the exhibits or that he was checking the nylon bag containing the exhibits, thinking that there were valuables in it.”

Samuel said the suspect’s family had approached the command to say he has mental problem. He said Kayode would be tested.
