Ten types of students you can’t miss in Nigerian universities

In case you have just graduated from secondary school or it’s your first day on campus. It is most likely you will encounter many types of Nigerian university students on campus.

The reason for this essay is to clear up some concepts regarding some types of university students you can’t miss on campus.

 

Below are ten types of students you can’t miss on any Nigerian campus:

Students who live off campus:

These set of students love the freedom of living on their own. Sometimes, it’s hard, especially when the bills start pouring in, sometimes, they are moved to tears, but, on the whole, it’s taught a couple of students how to be responsible adults. I’m sure most of the off-campus students will agree that they wouldn’t want to move back into the dorms.

However, the freedom enjoyed has also destroyed many who saw the opportunity as an avenue to take to drugs and hard substance.

 

The Pastors:

These set of students serves as Campus Pastor to many students, faculty and staff. They are actively involved in leading and developing the spiritual culture of the campus; including leading weekday campus chapel services and being available for pastoral support and prayer.

 

The party animals:

These set of students are always present in every university. As a matter of fact, they are the most popular set of students as people are always talking about them.

You can be sure that they would be at a party even when they do not go to school regularly.

They cannot afford to miss a party and give more importance to it.

 

The fashionistas:

These set of students would spend every Kobo they have on clothes and bother themselves about looking good always.

The trending clothes and style would first be seen on them and they would rock a style ahead of every other student in school. They may not be leading in their class but you can be sure you can never beat them when it comes to fashion.

 

The Bookworms:

People in this set are too studious; all they want to do is read and read. They do not go out, attend parties or have any form of social life. They would read even when there is no test and the exam is not in view.

They do not bother themselves about fashion and only wear whatever they have. Their lifestyle is very simple.

 

The Merchants aka ‘Lifesavers”

They have everything for sale;clothes, sardines, milk, recharge cards, bathing soap, suya, cars, houses right there in the hostel. Just ask they have it.

 

The Comrades or Aluta guys:

Students like these are passionate about the affairs of the school and are active members of the student union government. They concern themselves with the affairs of the other students in the school and express their opinions through the association.

They are people who are interested in politics and would always contest for one position or the other even at the faculty level.

They are the ones that fight for anything that comes up, They engage in school activism.

The Loafers/Cult guys:

They are not always in class, they scavenge on timid students and children of the rich by threatening them. They are always involved in fights on campus

 

The gist carrier:

Students in this set are known to talk a lot. They would always be seen talking in the school as their gist has no end. Other students avoid sitting with them because they distract them from reading and concentrating in class. .

The Chokes group/Dubbers:

Students that are found in the group have necks that have been adapted for copying other people’s work They know all the scopes one could deploy when it comes to cheating.

They would rather spend their time forming bond than reading.

They expect the other students to teach them during the exams and even spell the answers to them.
