Teacher, 37, admits having a baby for her teenage student
An English teacher at Buchtel High School, Laura Lynn Cross, 37, has been arrested after admitting that she already had a baby for one of her teenage students.
Cross, a native of of Tallmadge, Ohio, pleaded guilty to having a baby for her underage student, whom she groomed for three years.
It was gathered that Cross became the teenager’s foster mother when he was in eighth grade – a period when students are between the ages of 13 and 14.
The teacher, last Friday, pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual battery.
Investigation revealed that Cross began her romantic affair with the teenage student when she invited him to play in her swimming pool.
She convinced his mother to let him move in as part of a court-approved ‘partial parental custody’ arrangement.
Cross was arrested earlier this month after police learned she had given birth to the boy’s baby in December 2015.
The student’s father who claimed he raised alarm over the issue as early as 2012, said his family was traumatised over the incident.
“First of all, she’s a schoolteacher. To get aroused by a child basically you have to be a sick individual,” the student’s father said.
Cross has since resigned from her teaching position.
