Suicide: Doctor Allwell Oji’s family rush to Third Mainland Bridge as police recover unidentified body from Lagoon
Lagos Marine Police recovered a corpse from the waters under Third Mainland Bridge on Tuesday.
“We are not sure if it is the body of the doctor who jumped into the waters on Sunday,” Kehinde Adebayo, spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) told Newsroom minutes after the news broke.
Police recovered the body around 11:30am on today.
“We have called Doctor Oji’s family to report at the scene to see if they can identify the body,” Adebayo told us.
“We cannot say if it’s the doctor’s body until such confirmation is made,” he said.
Oji jumped into the Lagos Lagoon on Sunday evening in an apparent suicide.
Reports say Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said the body recovered, after full identification by the family, is not the body of Doctor Oji.
