Sadio Mane, Mo Salah aim to win their first FA Cup as Liverpool battles Chelsea on Saturday

To book his first FA final since joining Liverpool in 2016, African football star Sadio Mane netted twice in the first half of the semi-finals against Manchester City on April 16, 2022.

It was a pressure-filled, dramatic encounter between the two English sides as Liverpool scored all their three goals in the first half. But Pep Guardiola would have Liverpool fans on their toes in the second half, scoring two goals and dominating the possession.

Liverpool last lifted the FA cup trophy on May 13, 2006, 11 years before the club signed Mane from Southampton and 12 years before Mo Salah joined the club.

A win over Chelsea on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Wembley stadium will add another trophy to the five trophies both Sadio Mane and Mo Salah have since joining the club. But Thomas Tuchel’s side is not a walk-over. Having lost to Klopp this season in the Carabao Cup final, in what was an intense football encounter that ended in a goalless draw, Chelsea is expected to dig their feet in the game and secure their only domestic trophy this season.

It will be a clash of the titans as Liverpool face Chelsea in what is expected to be a memorable encounter filled with action and suspense. With the EPL title race still on, Jurgen Klopp has reached three finals this season, having won the first in February. A win over Chelsea on Saturday will hand the German coach his sixth trophy since joining Liverpool in 2015, and Klopp is aiming for it.

“There’s only one chance to win a final, and that is to qualify for a final. That’s what we did so far, we played each game available,” he said during an interview.

All matches between Klopp and Tuchel this season have so far ended in a stalemate, with Klopp winning the Carabao Cup on a penalty of 10-11.
