Russian Airstrikes Kill 14 in Kyiv as Israel-Iran War Enters Fifth Day

Russia launched a devastating overnight air assault on Kyiv early Tuesday, killing at least 14 people and injuring over 40 in what officials described as one of the deadliest attacks on the Ukrainian capital in recent months.

Drone and missile strikes pummeled residential neighborhoods across Kyiv, leaving several apartment buildings gutted or in flames. Air raid sirens sounded for nearly 10 hours as Ukrainian air defenses scrambled to intercept volleys of drones and missiles in the dark.

“Another attack, more wounded, destroyed homes, human suffering and anxiety,” said Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration. Search-and-rescue operations were still ongoing Tuesday morning, with fears that victims remain trapped under rubble.

The assault came as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky prepared to meet world leaders at the G7 summit in Canada, where he is expected to call for tougher sanctions against Moscow. But President Trump, who had planned to meet Zelensky, left the summit abruptly late Monday amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
