U.S. Drops Bombs on Fordow, Iran’s Most Secure Nuclear Site

The United States has launched direct military strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites, including the deeply fortified Fordow facility, marking a dramatic escalation in the conflict between Iran and Israel and drawing Washington into one of the most dangerous Middle East confrontations in years.

“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan,” President Donald Trump announced in a social media post on Saturday. “A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow.”

Iran has not acknowledged the strikes, but the move could ignite broad regional retaliation. Tehran had previously warned that American involvement would lead to “irreparable damage” and spark “all-out war in the region.”

While Trump confirmed the use of U.S. B-2 stealth bombers, the only aircraft capable of delivering the 30,000-pound GBU-57 bunker buster bomb, he did not say if the bomb was used in the operation. The bomb is designed to penetrate up to 200 feet underground, targeting deeply buried enrichment sites such as Fordow, where the International Atomic Energy Agency recently confirmed Iran was producing highly enriched uranium.

“This is an HISTORIC MOMENT FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ISRAEL, AND THE WORLD. IRAN MUST NOW AGREE TO END THIS WAR,” Trump posted, saying he would address the nation at 10:00 p.m. Eastern.

Israel had earlier appealed for U.S. assistance to reach Fordow, after weeks of its own airstrikes degraded Iran’s air defense systems. American military assets had been repositioned across the region in anticipation of Iranian retaliation.

The strikes mark a sharp reversal for Trump, who once campaigned on promises to end “forever wars” and previously delayed Israeli action in hopes of salvaging diplomacy.
