Passenger jumps to his death while trying to alight from BRT bus on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway

A BRT passenger who boarded the bus in Oshodi is reported to have died after hitting his head on the road while trying jump down from the bus at Casso bus stop along Lagos-Abeokuta expressway on Wednesday.

The Ifo Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps disclosed that the middle-aged man died instantly at the spot as the driver drove off immediately from the scene, leaving the man with no help.

Reiterating the incident, Mr. Joshua Ibitomi, the Agbado Unit Commander of the FRSC confirmed that the man was already dead by the time officers arrived and his body was evacuated from the scene.

“His corpse has been taken to an undisclosed hospital because residents of the area are harassing and destroying property of motorists plying the road,” he said.

He also revealed that the identity of the victim is unknown as he had no means of identification on him.

It was also noted that the BRT bus involved in the incident was difficult to trace due to the fact that its registration number was not captured by any eye-witnesses.

Ibitomi urged members of the public to desist from taking laws into their hands as the FRSC, Police and LASTMA were working to ease traffic and bring normalcy back to the area.
