Five Children Among 19 Killed in Lokoja Head-On Collision
At least 19 people, including five children, lost their lives in a deadly collision on Sunday along the Lokoja–Obajana Road in Kogi State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident, which occurred at about 4 p.m. in the Gadabiu community within Lokoja Local Government Area.
According to Kogi State Sector Commander, Kumar Tsukwam, the crash involved a Toyota Hummer bus heading to Abuja and an oncoming articulated truck. He said the bus driver, reportedly speeding, attempted to overtake another vehicle and ended up in the path of the truck, leading to a head-on collision and a subsequent fire outbreak.

Only eight of the 27 passengers survived, many with serious injuries including burns, dislocations, and fractures. They are currently receiving treatment at Fisayo Hospital in Obajana.
“It was very unfortunate, because it was caused by speeding and wrongful overtaking and involved 27 persons with only eight survivors, Tsukwam told journalists.
