Offa bank robber identified as a dismissed police officer

One of the daredevil robbers that caused bloodshed in multiple banks robbery in Offa, Kwara state about a month ago has reportedly been identified as a former policeman.

The robbers, in a brutal operation that involved no fewer than five banks in the community, killed no fewer than 20 persons – including policemen.

The suspect has been identified as Michael Adikwu, a Constable who was said to have been dismissed by the police in Ilorin for misconduct in 2012.

Unconfirmed reports say Adikwu was arrested by the Kwara state police on Monday.

The revelation was made by one Usman Chindo, a senior security officer, on his Facebook page.

The incredible thing about Adikwu’s reported identification was that police actually put up his photo for the public to identify. As a former police police officer in the same state he carried out the heinous crime, it should have been no-brainer for the police to identify him immediately.

Police had released CCTV images of the suspects days ago, urging the public to help identify the suspects with a cash reward of N5 million.
