NURTW Tension: Ambode orders suspension of union following Hamburger murder
June 5, 2017
The Lagos state government has ordered the suspension of union activities in Oshodi, following a power tussle among the National Union of Road Transport Workers.
A popular union leader, Rasaq Bello aka Hamburger, had been killed in the area last week due to the disagreement.
Hamburger was the Chairman of Motorcycle Operators’ Association of Lagos State, Oshodi chapter.
Lagos State Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Anofiu Elegushi, disclosed the development at a press briefing on Monday.
All seven branches of the NURTW operating in Oshodi area will be affected by the decision.
Elegushi has said there will be no issuance of tickets or collection of money from commercial vehicles operating in the area while the order lasts.
