Nigerians who feel they have another country are free to leave – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has called for loyalty from Nigerians, despite the challenges facing the country.
Buhari, in a statement made available by his spokesperson Femi Adesina on Monday, said that Nigeria is home.
He made the statement while receiving APC governorship aspirants and members of the party from the three senatorial zones of Kwara State at the Presidential Villa.
The President, however, said those who are not ready to fight for the country’s progress are free to leave.
“You don’t have to be in uniform to be loyal,” he said.
“What I said long ago in 1984 is still valid today. We have no other country but Nigeria. Others who feel they have another country may choose to go. We will stay here and salvage it together.”
Buhari’s Special Adviser on Nigerians living in diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa had said at the weekend that Nigerian professionals living in abroad need to return home to improve their respective sectors.
