Man impersonates EFCC, defrauds church founder, members of N2.4m

Members of a church have accused a man identified as Abiodun Adeyemi Faseyitan of duping them of millions of Naira.

The church members alleged that Abiodun, sometime in 2013, presented himself as a senior staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), with a promise to secure Federal Government jobs for them.

He also allegedly promised to assist them in purchasing vehicles that are on auction sale in the EFCC, as well as use his connection in the Commission to assist them to travel abroad.

The church’s founder said Abiodun collected the sum of N2.47 million from her and several millions of Naira from other members of her church. When they discovered he was not genuine, they made efforts to recover their monies back but couldn’t.

Abiodun was consequently apprehended by the EFCC. He was, on Thursday, arraigned before the Oyo State High Court on a 6-count of obtaining money under false pretense.
