The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 35 suspected internet fraudsters in Auchi, Edo State, following a targeted operation based on credible intelligence.
In a statement issued by the anti-graft agency, the suspects were apprehended in the early hours of the day at Vigilante Street, off Sabo Ibenafo Road, and Back of Yak area of the town.

“Their arrest followed credible intelligence that linked them to fraudulent internet activities,” the EFCC said.
Items recovered during the operation include nine cars, eleven laptop computers, 46 mobile phones, and two smart watches, all believed to be proceeds of cybercrime.
The EFCC further noted that “they would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.”

The arrests are part of the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on cybercrime and bring perpetrators to justice across the country.
This development adds to the growing list of arrests made by the commission in the fight against internet fraud, popularly known as “Yahoo Yahoo,” especially among young Nigerians in urban centers.
