Man allegedly rapes young boy to death in Niger
An alleged homosexual act by a man identified as Abubakar, Mai Shayi has reportedly led to the death of a 12-year-old boy in Niger state.
Abubakar, a tea seller popularly known as Mai Shayi allegedly kidnapped and engaged in repeated anal sex with the little boy simply named as Aminu in the Kontagora area of the state.
Aminu had been found in Abubakar’s apartment after two weeks of search by his parents. He was reportedly in a critical condition when he was found.
The boy has reportedly died as a result of complications from the act.
Hausa online news platform, Filter, reported that the boy was waiting to have a corrective operation after he was penetrated multiple times in the anus by Mai Shayi.
At the time of the suspect’s arrest, he reportedly confessed to the crime and was sentenced by a court to pay a fine of N30,000.
The incident has sparked outrage and has been taken up by rights activists who are calling for his rearrest.
