Lawyer urges court to shield Ganduje from House of Assembly probe

A lawyer, Muhammad Zubair, has taken it upon himself to shield Kano governor Abdullahi Ganduje from being probed by the state House of Assembly over damning allegations of bribery.

Several clips purportedly showing Ganduje receiving bribe from contractors in the state had been released to the public by journalist Jaafar Jaafar.

Ganduje and his government deny the allegations, describing the videos as ‘cloned’.

Zubair, on Monday, was able to get the Kano State High court to suspend the state lawmakers’ investigation into the allegations.

NAN reports that he claimed to have instituted the case for himself and the national coordinator of Lawyers for Sustainable Democratization of Nigeria.

The suit instituted by Zubair was against the Kano state House of Assembly, Chairman of the investigative committee, Baffa Babba Dan-Agundi, and the Attorney General of the state and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Ibrahim Muktar.
