Lassa fever: Abuja church worker attacks “foolish” journalist over “ignorant” report
After the outbreak of Lassa fever, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) advised against drinking garri with cold water.
An Abuja church worker, Steve Chukwudi Fidel, posted on Facebook he won’t stop drinking garri because Jesus will protect him from Lassa fever.
We shared his story on NewsroomNG. Then, one of our journalists, Rotimi Akinola, shared the post on social media.
That action hasn’t gone down well with Steve who has lashed out at Akinola for sharing the link.
“You seriously need to grow up,” Steve told Akinola via Facebook chat.
“While you thought you were mocking me before the whole world, you just helped me preach the Gospel to more people. The wisdom of God is foolishness of man.
“I see how foolish you can be. So you can stoop so low to display your level of immaturity. Unfortunately every Christian is not as faithless as you are. God forgive your immaturity.”

Steve also commented on the original story on our site calling Akinola “ignorant.”
He wrote:
Thanks Rotimi Akinola for using your ignorance of God’s word, unbelief, faithlessness and immaturity to promote the truth of the Gospel. I pray some day you grow up from being just a logical church-goer to a man born of the Spirit of God. And don’t forget to add Music Producer and director, Author, Researcher and Sound engineer to my profile. Playing Musical instruments is what I do for the Lord and for fun.
Steve has ended his Facebook friendship with Akinola.
“I hope he reconsiders,” Akinola said in response in response to the development.
“I hope he re-adds me when he’s done being livid…we’re brothers after all,” Akinola said..
