Lagos policemen who slapped lawyer for demanding salary from boss arrested
Police in Lagos have said the officers captured on video assaulting a young lawyer have been arrested for unprofessional conduct.
Olakunle Karimu had reportedly gone to demand for his salary from his boss, when the officers were called to get him out of the building.
The officers, according to the police, were conventional police attached to Lion Building Police Station and were invited to the Chambers of Olawore & Co, at 28/30 Macarty Street, Lagos Island by the Managing Partner, Barrister Oluyomi Olawore. It was gathered that Olawore sent a distress call to the DPO.
Karimu’s boss had allegedly claimed to the police that he was being held hostage.
Police say investigations have revealed that the officers sent to bring the feuding partners to the station for interrogation by the DPO were not professional in their conduct.
Lagos State Police Commissioner, Imohimi Edgal, has ordered their arrest and they risk stiff punishments for their actions.
Edgal has also directed that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Lion Building should be queried for lack of supervision.
