WATCH: Policemen slap young lawyer for demanding unpaid salary from boss
A young lawyer, Olakunle Karimu, was slapped for reportedly demanding for his unpaid salary from his boss at his law firm in Lagos about a week ago.
Karimu’s boss allegedly called police operatives to drag him out of the building. Karimu was said to have tendered his resignation letter to the law firm in May 2018, after working there for almost a year.
He was, however, implored to work till June, so as put the new lawyer who would take over from him, through. He would later be stopped from work midway through June, with his salary allegedly unpaid.
His boss allegedly issued a post-dated cheque which would become payable at the end of June, but Karimu was unable to cash the cheque because it was not properly signed.
That was when he decided to go back to his boss to make corrections, but his request was allegedly turned down.
Karimu insisted that the cheque was useless to him without the proper signature and refused to leave the office, and the boss allegedly told some of his staff to call in police officers that he was being held hostage.
Operatives from Kam Salem Police Station at Obalende, Lagos, arrived and slapped Karimu while dragging him out of the office.
Efforts by Newsroom to reach the victim for comments were unsuccessful at the time of this report, as his number was unreachable.
