Lagos 2019: APC primaries kick off; Ambode seeking to defy Tinubu and beat Sanwo-Olu to clinch ticket
October 2, 2018
After two postponements, the primary elections to choose the APC flagbearer at the gubernatorial polls in 2019 finally kicked off on Tuesday morning at different wards across the state.
Incumbent governor Akinwunmi Ambode has seen his chances diminish rapidly as his erstwhile godfather Bola Tinubu has selected another candidate Babajide Sanwo-Olu to run in his stead.
At the Abesan ward in Alimosho Local Government where this writer is monitoring events, party faithful gathered at dawn to choose their representative.
The situation is the same at the other wards that make up Lagos State. Early projections have it that Babajide Sanwo-Olu is preferred by members of the party.
