Veteran broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku, security guard killed at home; car stolen
The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation after 67-year-old veteran broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard were found dead at her residence, with her vehicle missing from the scene.
Veteran broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku, a retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) personality popularly known as “Aunty Kitan,” and her security guard have been killed at her home, and the assailants fled with her car, the state police command has confirmed.
The veteran broadcaster and her security guard were killed in the early hours of Sunday at her residence in the Agodo community along the Abeokuta–Siun–Sagamu Expressway in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area.
In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the incident was reported at the Owode Egba Division on Sunday, June 21, 2026, by a resident of Iyana Agodo Village who raised the alarm over suspicious activities at the residence.
Detectives deployed to the scene found signs of forced entry and disturbance. The guard’s body was discovered within the security post, while Oyesiku’s body was found inside her apartment. Her vehicle was missing from the premises.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has ordered a full investigation. Babaseyi said surveillance and intelligence-led operations had been intensified across locations relevant to the case to track down and apprehend those responsible.
The command commiserated with Oyesiku’s family, the OGTV community and the media, and urged residents to remain calm and share any information that could aid the investigation.
Oyesiku was well known in media circles for her years of service at OGTV before her retirement, and news of her death has drawn reactions from colleagues, friends and residents of the state. The bodies were deposited at the morgue of the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta.
