Jessica: Nigerian lawmaker’s daughter “kidnaps self to extort money from dad”
Whiles Jessica’s parents were getting worked up over their daughter’s “abduction,” the young woman was somewhere in Abuja with the love of her life waiting for “the alert”…we’re made to believe.
Jessica Edionwele, 24, was reported missing over the weekend. Her parents were expecting her in Abuja but she never showed up.
She was believed to have been kidnapped…that was later found to be untrue, reports say.
Jessica’s father is a Nigerian lawmaker. He represents Esan Constituency, Edo State.
Mr. Edionwele could have thought some political rivals wanted to get at him by kidnapping his daughter…or that some miscreants wanted to make some money off him.
He appears to be wrong…if he ever nurtured the first of those thoughts.
So it happened that Miss Jessica was found “in the bossom of her boyfriend in Lugbe, an outskirt of Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Sunday” a report by ThisDay says.
Jessica was serving her fatherland (National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, things) in Ibadan, Oyo State.
She was expected home in Abuja. So she travelled to Lagos, went aboard a passenger plane and landed in Abuja…and then escaped her parents who were waiting to receive her, so it seemed.
Reports say she took a decoy to the outskirt of the capital city, handed her phone over to a man believed to be her boyfriend…
…boyfriend calls dad and made the usual “pay me money if you ever want to see your daughter again.”
FCT police were brought in on the issue, and got working.
“We got the information of where she was hiding from someone who had seen Jessica in the neighbourhood and afterwards alerted the police, and both of them were seen and arrested in Lugbe,” a police source told ThisDay.
