Ibadan Poly Tragedy: Management declares lecture free “week”

Their bus somersaulted on their way back to Ibadan killing 6 on the spot.

The Polytechnic Ibadan is mourning the loss of 6 of its students and members of staff, Monday evening.

The institution has declared the rest of the week lecture free to allow the school community to mourn and pray.

According to the polytechnic’s PRO, Alhaji Soladoye Adewole:

“We have declared lecture free day throughout the week. We lost six people, all students and staff. That is why the management under the Rector, Professor Olatunde Fawole, directed that the rest of the week should be declared lecture free to mourn them and to also pray for the school community.”

The group was returning to Ibadan from Oyo where they had attended the naming ceremony of the child of a member of staff when the accident occurred.

A National Diploma (ND) student of the polytechnic told NewsroomNG that we “are just told to stay away from school for two days and we are resuming on Thursday”..
