Herdsman kills man for allegedly having an affair with his wife
A 30-year-old herdsman, Kabiru Hassan has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Minna for allegedly killing a man he accused of having an affair with his wife.
The police prosecutor, ASP Daniel Ikwoche informed the court that the victim’s father, Ibrahim Hana-Aiki from Tsako village in Shiroro area of Niger state had reported the issue at the Erena division on December 8, 2018.
Hassan is said to have hit the deceased, Lawal on the neck with a stick when he suspected him to be sleeping with his wife.
Consequently, the police charged Hassan with culpable homicide, pending legal advice from the Office of the Niger State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Although Hassan admitted to committing the crime, he pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
The Magistrate, Nasiru Muazu rejected his plea and made recommendations that a duplicated copy of the case file should be submitted to the DPP for legal advice.
The case was adjourned until Jan.30, 2019 for further mention.
