“Help, we are being crushed with mortar!” – Residents of Ikorodu community cry over terror attacks
Residents of Agbowa community in the Ikorodu area of Lagos have cried out on the terror that currently besieges the area.
Lagos State police commissioner Fatai Owoseni, on Wednesday, confirmed the death of three children (between ages four and nine) and their mother in gruesome circumstances.
The incident reportedly happened at an uncompleted building belonging to a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in the community.
The assailants are still unknown.
Residents suspect a connection between the attack and incidences of ritual killings in Ibeshe and Okegbegun communities in Ikorodu.
“The attack was similar to what happened in Ibeshe community, where some hoodlums gained entrance into houses in the midnight through the windows and attacked their victims,” a resident said.
Some residents say the assailants are attacking their victims with mortar and grinding stone.
“The unfortunate incident and the manner in which the killing was done is absolutely distasteful in all ramifications. A mortar was used to crush their head,” another resident, Adeniji, said.
Mr. Fatai Owoseni said on Wednesday that a manhunt had been launched for the suspects. He promised that the command would intensify security presence in the community and other remote areas in the state.
