EKITI: Local government worker sentenced to life imprisonment for raping girl, 15

A life sentence has been handed down on a local government worker, Ojo Ayodele, for abducting and raping a 15-year-old girl.

Ayodele was accused of taking the girl to a secret location in Ekiti where he sexually assaulted her for 21 days.

The girl was said to have left the house due to maltreatment from her stepmother after her father remarried.

Her mother had moved to Port Harcourt following the separation from her father, the court heard.

The girl was said to have met Ayodele after she left home and he promised to take care of her.

A good Samaritan who saw blood stains on the victim’s cloth took her to Ijero Local Government Immigration Office to report the case.

He was arrested by immigration officers at the council secretariat, before the matter was reported at Ijero Police Station.

Justice Oluwatoyin Abodunde in her judgment at the Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, found Ayodele guilty of rape and abduction as charged and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
