Ekiti: Fayose to the rescue as filling station goes up in flames

Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose was “man of the day” as he swung into action and led the state Fire Service in combating a fire outbreak at a petrol station in the state capital.

A tanker, belonging to the Strive Energy petrol station situated at Ijigbo roundabout in Ado Ekiti, was said to have exploded and burst into flames Sunday afternoon, leaving residents in the Mugbagba area of the town at the mercy of the fire.

Fayose got wind of the incident and raced to the venue, rolling his sleeves as he spurred firefighters on in dousing the inferno.

The “man of the people” mounted the fire truck and gave instructions, before giving an order that petrol stations located within residential areas stop further dispensation of fuel to minimise casualties.

Properties worth millions of Naira were reportedly lost to the fire but no life was lost.
