Dry cleaner, 75, “fingers 7-year-old girl’s genitals, defile two others”
A Minna Magistrates’ Court has ordered that one Abdullahi Umar, a 75-year-old dry cleaner, should be remanded in prison for allegedly raping two minors and fingering another.
Umar is standing trial on a 2-count charge of sexual abuse and unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Gunduma Ibrahim, had told the court that one Bashir Mohammed reported the matter to the state Child Rights Agency on April 15.
Ibrahim said Umar allegedly lured Mohammed’s 7-year-old daughter into his room at Maje Tunga, Minna and fingered her genitals.
Ibrahim added that during police investigation it was revealed that Umar had lured two other girls aged 9 and 7, who were his close neighbors, into his room and had carnal knowledge of them on different occasions.
He said Umar warned the girls not to tell their parents what had been transpiring.
Umar, however, pleaded not guilty to the accusations.
Ibrahim thereafter, urged the court to adjourn proceedings to enable police complete its investigation into the matter.
The Magistrate, Binta Rijau, adjourned the case till May 9, for continuation of trial.
