Driver, 35, defiles neighbour’s 4-year-old daughter, threatens her
Daniel Mark, a driver by profession, was arraigned before a Daura Road Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna today.
The 35-year-old appeared before the court, for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s daughter.
Mark, a resident of Nasarawa Ward, Kaduna, is standing trial on a two-count charge of act of gross indecency and assault.
According to the prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Baba, the defendant’s neighbour, one Maryam Umar, reported the matter at the Kakuri Police Station on Feb. 28.
Mark was said to have successfully lured the complainant’s 4-year-old daughter into his room on Feb. 18 and had carnal knowledge of her.
Baba alleged that Mark had threatened to kill the victim if she told anyone about the incident. He added that during police investigation, Mark confessed to have committed the crime.
The Magistrate, Zainab Mohammed, granted Mark bail of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. She said that the sureties must be residence within the jurisdiction of the court and submit two recent passport photographs.
Mohammed also ordered that the sureties must present evidence of tax payment to the Kaduna State Government and adjourned hearing until March 14.
