Court to rule on Shi’ites leader El-Zakzaky’s bail application November 7

The bail application filed by the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim Zakzaky and his wife, Zinat, will be ruled upon by the Kaduna High Court on November 7.

The Kaduna State Government had brought eight charges against El-Zakzaky, his wife, and two other Shi’ite Muslim leaders, Yakubu Yahaya and Sanusi Abdulqadir, based in Katsina and Kano states.

They were all charged with alleged conspiracy and abating culpable homicide, among other related offences.

The prosecution counsel, Dari Bayero, had told the court that the security agencies had drafted personnel to strategic areas of the state to provide security for the visit of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, to Kaduna State.

NAN reports that both the defence and prosecution counsel also told newsmen that the heads of security agencies could not draft adequate personnel to provide security at the court.
