Catholic reverend father survives as alleged lover dies in cooking gas explosion
A Catholic reverend father allegedly got more than he bargained for at the home of his secret lover.
The reverend father, who took an oath to abstain from marriage and from all sexual relations, was allegedly at the home of his lover at Allen Avenue, Awka in Anambra State, when a cooking gas cylinder exploded.
There is only one guess as to what the Catholic “man of God” (names withheld) was doing at the place.
Reports say the explosion killed the woman with whom he allegedly had several sexual encounters. It is, however also being reported the man only wanted to save the lady’s life.
The father, badly burnt by the flames, was fortunate to escape with his life.
A source familiar with the sad development allegedly said there is a plot to sweep the story under a carpet of secrecy.
“The girl died on the spot,” Punch quoted the source as having said.
The source was quoted to have said some people have decided to cover up the accident so it doesn’t get unwanted media coverage.
It’s unclear if local Catholic authorities are involved in the alleged cover up.
“The priest was hurriedly smuggled away and we now hear that they have flown him abroad, apparently to cover traces,” the source was quoted to have said.
“Are there no hospitals in Nigeria? I have told them to stop hiding this story. What do they want to achieve by hiding this story? The truth should be said and shame the devil.”
It also seems the accident was never reported to the police.
Local Catholic authorities reportedly confirmed the accident but didn’t say anything about the alleged relationship between the injured reverend father and the woman killed by the explosion.
A source, however, said the Catholic minister was only trying to save the lady’s life..
