Buhari, while at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, named himself Minister for Petroleum Resources.

The move comes weeks after Buhari made a major policy announcement while on a trip to France.

On September 16, Buhari denounced a cabinet he was yet to announce  as “noise makers” before the French media.

Prior to that time, the president had been silent on his ministerial list save for later promising to release it in September.

Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Chidi Odinkalu, said Buhari disrespects Nigerians by making major announcements away from home.

Addressing some select reporters in New York on Tuesday, after addressing a Global Leaders’ Summit on Countering ISIL and Violent Extremism, Buhari said: “I will remain Minister of Petroleum.”

“I will appoint a minister of State for Petroleum”.

Buhari restated his determination to sanitise Nigeria’s oil industry and free it from corruption and shady deals, NAN reports.

On Corruption, he pledged that the federal government will fight corruption, because it has been identified as the root of all problems hindering Nigeria as a nation.

NAN recalls former President Olusegun Obasanjo, for most part of his tenure, was the mister of petroleum.

Nigeria waits for Buhari to unveil his cabinet today, the last day in the month of September, 2015.
