BREAKING: Issa Hayatou ousted as CAF President after 29-year reign
The 29-year-reign of Issa Hayatou as the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has finally come to an end.
Hayatou was defeated by Madagascar’s Ahmed Ahmed at the election which was held in Addis Ababa on Thursday.

Ahmed garnered a total of 34 votes, while Hayatou could only garner 20 votes in the poll.
The Madagascar Football Association chief’s victory makes him only the seventh CAF president in the football governing body’s 60-year history.

Hayatou, 70, will also lose his FIFA position and his place on the ruling council of world football’s governing body.
