Boy, 7, electrocuted in Benin after “nonchalant” BEDC officials ignore calls to remove fallen cable
May 13, 2017
A seven-year-old boy identified as Stanley Bobo has lost his life after being electrocuted by an electric cable in Benin, ITV reports.
The boy was said to have gone out to play when he stepped on the live cable. The wire burnt his body and killed him.
The incident threw residents of Omo-Iyamu street, off Country Home Motel road, into a state of confusion and anguish.
The residents alleged that they had earlier notified officials of BEDC about the fallen cable, but they refused to show up.
The alleged nonchalant attitude shown by the electricity officials is reminiscent of the allegations directed at them after several football fans were electrocuted in Calabar.
