Army to investigate source of videos of troops humiliating IPOB members
The Nigeria Army has advised the general public to be wary of online photo-shopped photographs, as well as video clips to discredit the Army.
They claimed that they are yet to verify the source of a clip trending on the social media and other platforms, where troops were purportedly humiliating some people at a check point in Abia state; the issue as reported will be investigated with the view to ascertain the source and the actors in the clip.
According to a recent press release, The Army will base its investigation on their code of conduct and rules of engagement to deal with any officer that infringes on any of their directives, if found guilty, and such officer will face full wrath of the military justice system.
According to reports, they claimed that 82 Division has been intimated of planned misinformation and propaganda arrangement by the secessionists Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on how they intend to churn out prerecorded video clips aimed at discrediting the Nigerian Army, causing disaffection among the citizens of this country.
The Division claim that it wishes to reassure the public that it is determined to ensuring the safety of lives and properties in its area of operational responsibility, particularly the entire South East geo-political zone as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
