An angry mob descended on a member of a trigger-happy policemen in the Agbor area of Delta State on Wednesday for shooting a man in the leg.
Reports say the policeman and his colleagues chased the victim to his parent’s house, with claims that he was a ‘yahoo boy’. They reportedly had a spat with the boy’s father, and threatened to shoot him.
The policemen allegedly made good on their threat by shooting the man in the leg, but a mob which had gathered quickly descended on them and were able to get hold of one of them. The unlucky police officer was severely beaten and injured.
