Court remands Yahoo boy in prison for allegedly scamming American lover of N830,000

An alleged ‘Yahoo boy’, Ajibade Wasiu Oladotun is facing charges for allegedly defrauding his victim of $2,300 (about N830,000) in a romance scam.

Oladotun allegedly committed the crime in March 2017, when he deceived his victim, one Chris Odom who resides in the United States of America, that he was a woman looking for love.

A love-struck Odom had sent the sum to Oladotun who posed as Lola Parker as part payment for an air ticket to travel from Lagos to Seattle.

The EFCC said in a statement that the suspect was arraigned on Monday before the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, “on a three-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and possession of false document.”

Oladotun pleaded not guilty to the charges.
