African Film Festival Atlanta Unveils Opening and Closing Feature Films

 

The African Film & Arts Foundation Inc. has announced the inaugural launch of the African Film Festival Atlanta.

The three-day festival, with the theme “Celebrating Nigerian Stories”, will be held online from Friday November 20 to Sunday November 22 2020.

The African Film & Arts Foundation Inc., is a non-profit media arts organization based in Atlanta Georgia, dedicated to raising the propensities and potentials of African arts and cinema cultures.

According to the organisers, the opening feature film for the festival will be The Ghost and the House of Truth” by Akin Omotoso. The screening will take place online, available Friday November 20th from 10:00 am EST to 11.45 pm EST.

The film is about a dedicated counselor, who facilitates reconciliation sessions between convicts and the victims of their crimes. When her own daughter goes missing, her belief in forgiveness is tested. A Q&A session with the Director Akin Omotoso moderated by Actress/Director Terri J. Vaughn will be held online, Friday November 20 by 12:00 pm EST | 7:00 pm SAST.

The closing night film “My Friend Fela” explores the life of legendary Nigerian musician Fela Kuti from the perspective of his longtime friend Carlos Moore. The screening will take place online, available Sunday November 22, from 10:00 am EST to 11.45 pm EST.
