5 dead, 2 injured, as drunk driver crushes church members in Akwa Ibom
Five persons were reportedly killed on their way back from church on Sunday in Akwa Ibom.
An unidentified man, who was reportedly drunk, rammed his truck into the victims at the Ukana Ikot Etim area of the state.
He was driving a Ford utility sport vehicle with registration number GCE 342 CX.
The man was said to be on top speed when he crashed into seven people waiting at a bean cake (akara) spot.
Five of the unidentified victims reportedly died instantly while two others sustained serious injuries.
An eyewitness said the driver was discovered to be drunk when he was approached by bystanders.
He was reportedly handed over to the Ikot Ekpene Police Command, SARS Department.
