2 killed as container truck falls from Ojuelegba bridge, crushes SUV, salon car

A trailer conveying a container, late Wednesday afternoon, fell from Ojuelegba bridge and landed on two cars.

Eyewitnesses said the accident caused pandemonium and chaotic traffic situation on the ever busy Ikorodu Road in Lagos.

“The container fell on two cars, and totally crushed on of them,” an eyewitness told Newsroom.

“One of the vehicles was an SUV (sport utility vehicle). It was totally crushed. The other white salon car was partially affected.”

Newsroom later gathered the two occupants of the SUV died in the accident. They are believed to be couples.

“The driver of the second car managed to escape but his vehicle cannot be repaired again,” another eyewitness told Newsroom.

The sad incidence happened while commuters were returning home after the day’s work.

Many have called on the state government to stop movement of containers during the day and especially from moving on bridges.
