Youths go on rampage after SARS operatives shoot polytechnic student dead in Osun
Some angry youths have besieged the Iwo Area Police Command and set fire to the building which houses operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad at the command.
The violent protest was as a result of the alleged killing of a student of Iree Polytechnic student by some SARS officials on Thursday.
The victim, Nafiu Babatunde Ayodele, was said to have been felled by a bullet allegedly fired by one of the operatives identified as Gbadamosi Lukman, during the annual Sallah Fest around Ajangbala.
Ayodele had reportedly attended the event and was waiting for a bike to take him home when he was hit by a stray bullet.
Eyewitnesses were said to have immediately identified the shooter, but he fled the scene with his colleagues.
Angry residents have stormed the police station on Friday morning, after efforts by the Oba in the area to placate them proved unsuccessful.
The incident comes barely two weeks after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo gave an order that SARS should be overhauled.
