“You are stupid, playing on our intelligence” – Nigerians blast NTA over fake #EndSARS posts
The Nigerian Television Authority displayed its irresponsibility and unprofessionalism on Monday (today) when it published posts suggesting that the police was ready to address citizens’ concerns over the overzealous activities of operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).
Nigerians have been voicing their displeasure and concerns on the ill-treatment innocent people have been subjected by men of the police unit, with many calling for a reform or a total scrap of SARS.
NTA, in a bid to get on the hotly debated conversation, played on the public’s intelligence by publishing stories that suggested the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris had addressed the issue.
Many Nigerians, since finding out about the national TV’s deceit, have taken turns to lambast the government-run television station.
“This is an old post and wht we are demanding for is #EndSARS so tell whoever sent you that we are not burged with this FAKE NEWS,” on person, Morris, said on Twitter.
“This is nothing but stupidity at the highest level, how is this a response to the recent outpour to #ENDSARS,” another person said.
