Woman seeks divorce from husband over beatings, sex-starvation
They say marriage is for better or worse, but for Lynda Ogedazi, there’s an end to everything; especially when it involves domestic abuse.
The 27-year-old mother of two who is married to one Uzor Ogedazi, 42, has implored the Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve her marriage on the grounds of physical abuse and sex starvation.
Lynda accused her husband of constantly brutalizing her at every opportunity he gets while refusing to make love to her ever since she gave birth to their second child nine months ago. She added that Uzor has been involved in extra-marital affairs.
“He constantly beats me and he is always threatening me to move out from my marriage of eight years.”
“My lord, there is no more love in our marriage. I want a divorce,” she said.
Uzor, in his defence denied most of her allegations as untrue. He however didn’t narrate any stories of wrongdoings from his wife that might have prompted him to act in the manner he did.
He accepted his wife’s request for divorce and urged the court to go ahead with the proceedings.
“I want the court to grant me the custody of my two children because my husband is not a responsible man,’’ Lynda requested.
The case was adjourned to December 11 for further hearing.
