Woman “rains hot water on girl, 11, for interfering in fight with her mother” in Owerri
A young girl, identified as Chika, is battling to save her skin after a neighbour allegedly poured hot water on her in Owerri on May 20.
The incident reportedly occurred in Obazu Mbieri, a community in the Mbaitolu LGA of Imo State.
Chika, according to reports, had attempted to separate a fight between her mother and the neighbour, identified as Mrs Promise, when the incident occurred on Saturday night.
A staff of a radio station in the Imo State capital said Chika’s mother, Mrs Ngozi Mkwazema, and Mrs Promise had engaged in a fight.
Mrs promise allegedly started beating Chika after the 11-year-old stood to defend her mother (a widow).
According to the girl, a primary six student, “She (Mrs Promise) started insulting my mother and calling my two big sisters prostitutes and talked back to her and told her to stop insulting my family.
“She dragged me to the public kitchen and poured hot water that my mum was boiling on me.”

Mrs Promise, a mother of three, and her husband, identified as Obinna and said to be a Keke driver from Ebonyi State, have reportedly fled since the incident.
Chika’s family are soliciting for funds from the public for her treatment.
