Why Silverbird Mall, Sumiram Hotel, and Others Are Now for Sale — AMCON
The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has listed 10 prime properties—including the Silverbird Entertainment Centre Mall in Abuja and the former Sumiram Hotel in Jos—for sale as part of efforts to resolve acquired non-performing loans.
The properties span several states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos, Plateau, Rivers, and Oyo. They will be sold via a “competitive bidding process,” AMCON stated in an advertorial published in the ThisDay newspaper on Monday.
“Assets purchased from various eligible financial institutions hereby offer the following properties for sale to interested members of the public,” the agency announced.
Among the high-profile listings is the Silverbird Entertainment Centre Mall located in the Central Area, Cadastral Zone, Abuja. The five-story commercial complex has a “gross lettable area of 15,650.10sqm.” AMCON had seized assets linked to the Silverbird Group in 2016 due to an outstanding debt of N11 billion.
In Plateau State, AMCON listed the former Hotel Sumiram and Green Restaurant on Secretariat Link Road, Jos. “Development on site includes the main block with 6 rooms and 2 servant rooms, kitchen, canteen, and reception,” AMCON said. “Other developments include a ten (10) room rear block with karaoke bar, poolside, sit-out, garden, powerhouse, and gatehouse. The property sits on a land size of 2567.74sqm.”
Other notable listings include a warehouse and office block in Ibadan, an office complex in Gbagada, Lagos, and multiple residential and commercial assets in Port Harcourt.
